Coronavirus Update March 16, 2020: Remote update, parking update and more

Current Coronavirus (COVID-19) Situation - Remote learning, working update (4 p.m. March 16, 2020)

Good afternoon,

As we begin a new week here at UCCS, I want to relay several updates:

We’re thankful that the results for the student who was tested last week have come back negative. However, as we announced yesterday, we’re aware of three people who have had contact with known positive cases in the community. They were not showing symptoms when they were on campus and are in self-isolation. Those who were scheduled to be in class with them last week will receive additional communication.

Due to the changes with remote learning and remote working, Parking and Transportation Services will not be enforcing permits in permit-restricted lots through the end of Spring Break, March 29.

One campus shuttle will operate on a modified schedule and route to focus on services for residence hall students on campus. The shuttle will run between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m., the same hours as Roaring Fork Dining Hall, every 20 minutes between the Centennial Hall stop and the Roaring Fork stop.

Daily mail delivery will continue only for Roaring Fork Dining Hall, residence halls, Wellness Center, Kraemer Family Library, Lane Center for Academic Health Sciences and Main Hall. The mailroom, located on the first floor of the Campus Services Building, will hold packages and mail for all other buildings, but faculty and staff can pick up items between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. For items that are perishable, mailroom staff will reach out to the recipient to coordinate a delivery. Students who would normally receive mail in the residence halls but who may be in a different location during this remote learning period are encouraged to leave forwarding information with Residence Life and Housing.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has shared that anyone who has traveled to Eagle, Summit, Pitkin or Gunnison counties in the last week to minimize social contact. If you have, please follow the guidance from the CDPHE.

We know there are going to be a lot of questions, and some that we don’t have answers for quite yet. We have a team of staff who are fielding those questions at covid19@uccs.edu and at (719) 255-4222. They are responding as quickly as they can, with a priority on those messages that require immediate attention. That email and phone line will be staffed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.

There are several resources to county, state and national public health agencies at covid19.uccs.edu. That website also contains information specific to UCCS faculty, staff and students on changes. Some of your questions may be answered by visiting the website.

We have never faced a challenge like this before, but we will work through this new experience together.
